The Architectural Students Association (ASA) is a student-led organization that supports architecture students across South Africa.

 

About the Bursary Programme

 

ASA is offering Bursaries for the 2027 Academic year to students pursuing architecture and related design fields.

 

Fields of Study

  • Architecture

  • Sustainable Design

  • Urban Planning

  • Heritage Studies

 

Eligibility Requirements

 

To be considered for the ASA Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizenship

  • Completed Grade 12 with a Bachelor's pass (minimum 60% in Mathematics and English)

  • Accepted or currently enrolled at a recognized South African university for architecture or design

  • Demonstrated financial need

  • Strong academic record with minimum 65% average

  • Must be a registered member of ASA

  • Not in receipt of any other full-cost bursary

 

Required Documents

 

Applicants must submit the following documents with their application:

  • Certified copy of South African ID document

  • Certified copy of Grade 12 certificate

  • Full academic record (if currently studying)

  • Proof of acceptance or registration at a recognized institution

  • A portfolio of work (where applicable)

  • A motivational letter expressing your interest in architecture

  • Proof of household income (parents'/guardians' payslips or affidavit)
