Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Department of Health Nursing Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• South African citizenship

• Completed Grade 12 with a Bachelor's pass (minimum 50% in Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, Life Sciences, and English)

• Accepted or currently enrolled at a recognized South African nursing college or university

• Demonstrated financial need (combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum)

• Strong academic record with a minimum 60% average in relevant subjects

• Must be willing to work in a public healthcare facility after graduation (service obligation)

• Not in receipt of any other government-funded bursary

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following documents with their application:

• Certified copy of South African ID document

• Certified copy of Grade 12 certificate or latest results

• Full tertiary academic record (if currently studying)

• Proof of acceptance or registration at an accredited institution

• A motivational letter outlining your passion for nursing and community health

• Proof of household income (parents'/guardians' latest payslips or affidavit)

• Two reference letters from academic or community leaders
