About the Bursary Programme

 

Kumba Iron Ore is offering Bursaries for the 2027 Academic year to students pursuing mining and engineering qualifications.

  • Mining Engineering

  • Geology

  • Metallurgy

  • Mechanical Engineering

 

Eligibility Requirements

 

To be considered for the Kumba Iron Ore Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizenship

  • Completed Grade 12 with strong results in Mathematics and Physical Science (minimum 60%)

  • Accepted or currently enrolled at a recognized South African university

  • Demonstrated financial need

  • Strong academic record with minimum 65% average

  • Must be willing to work at Kumba operations after graduation

  • Not in receipt of any other full-cost bursary

 

Required Documents

 

Applicants must submit the following documents with their application:

  • Certified copy of South African ID document

  • Certified copy of Grade 12 certificate

  • Full academic record (if currently studying)

  • Proof of acceptance or registration at a recognized institution

  • A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • A motivational letter explaining your career aspirations

  • Proof of household income (parents'/guardians' payslips or affidavit)
