The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is the regulatory body for the architectural profession in South Africa.

 

About the Bursary Programme

 

SACAP is offering Bursaries for the 2027 Academic year to students pursuing architecture and related design qualifications.

  • Landscape Architecture

  • Urban Design

  • Architectural Technology

 

Eligibility Requirements

 

To be considered for the SACAP Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizenship

  • Completed Grade 12 with a Bachelor's pass (minimum 60% in Mathematics and English)

  • Accepted or currently enrolled at a recognized South African university for an architecture degree

  • Demonstrated financial need

  • Strong academic record with minimum 65% average

  • Must be registered with SACAP as a candidate architectural professional

  • Not in receipt of any other full-cost bursary

 

Required Documents

 

Applicants must submit the following documents with their application:

  • Certified copy of South African ID document

  • Certified copy of Grade 12 certificate

  • Full academic record (if currently studying)

  • Proof of acceptance or registration at a recognized institution

  • A portfolio of design work (where applicable)

  • A motivational letter expressing your passion for architecture

  • Proof of household income (parents'/guardians' payslips or affidavit)
